Use the following model to help you to understand ‘stress’ and how you can deal with it to satisfy you in a healthy vigorous way

STRESS stimuli – physical or mental in origin,
pleasant or unpleasant – are present,
received and processed by your brain
AROUSAL you ‘wake up’ to the perception of the stress stimuli and ‘arousal substances’ are released in your body
TENSION is created in your physiological systems and in your psychological systems to prepare you for action [fight or flight]
IDENTIFICATION stress stimuli are processed in the context of your personal circumstances, individual goals and potential for change
STRATEGY you develop an action plan to deliver an appropriate response to the stress stimuli, creating an environment for change
FLOW your focused thoughts and action, active or passive, release tension and a new energy balance arises. This becomes a good habit – a continuous flow for stress situations for ever
YES say ‘yes’ to understanding the nature of stress from now on, say ‘yes’ to responsible action and reaction, say ‘yes’ to life!
