the
land of calm
Imagine
it is a beautiful spring day, not too hot and not too cold. You are dressed
in comfortable clothes and on your feet are comfortable walking shoes
or boots. You leave your home by the front door and look around you, noticing
all the familiar sights and sounds.
You are wondering to yourself what the day holds. You have a slight feeling
of excitement about the fact that you are going on an adventure. You are
planning to leave your hectic life behind you for a while. Your mission
is to discover 'calm' and understand how to use it in your everyday life.
And as you wonder about what your adventure might be, you suddenly find
that you have been transported to a beautiful magical place. Take in the
sights and sounds and peace of this beautiful magical place, it is the
Land of Calm.
At the centre of the Land of Calm is a magnificent hill with gently sloping
sides. As you approach the base of the hill path you notice a kindly looking
person beckoning you to join them. This is Zea your spirit guide for the
journey.
Zea explains that you will be climbing the Hill of Calm together. Your
climb will be in seven stages. There are seven rest areas along the way
where you can stop for a short while and consider the signposts.
'Come with me' says Zea 'we need to start our journey'
To begin with the walking is easy and very soon you come to a rest area
with a signpost in the middle. Zea invites you to read the signpost -
it says quite simply " Are you a worrier? What do you worry about?"
Think about this Question for a moment. " Are you a worrier? What
do you worry about?"
On the reverse of the sign is Calm Wisdom "Worry never helped anybody
achieve anything but it certainly hindered them and made them feel ill"
You ponder for a moment and resolve to use this wisdom when you get back
home to the hurly burly of life. Zea remains silent, smiling only to confirm
that you have understood the worry sign.
You walk on barely noticing the incline. The exercise makes you feel good.
Before you know it you have come to the second rest area.
Zea invites you to read the second signpost - it says quite simply "Are
you angry sometimes? What sort of things make you feel angry?" Think
about this question for a moment. "Are you angry sometimes? What
sort of things make you feel angry?"
On the reverse of the sign is Calm Wisdom "Anger never helped anybody
achieve anything but it certainly hindered them and made them feel ill"
You ponder for a moment and resolve to use this wisdom when you get back
home to the hurly burly of life. Zea remains silent smiling only to confirm
that you have understood the anger sign.
You walk on breathing deeply. You are enjoying the bushes and wild flowers
and birdsong. Before you know it you have come to the third rest area.
Zea invites you to read the signpost - it says quite simply "Are
you carrying a load of guilt and baggage from the past?" Think about
this question for a moment. "Are you carrying a load of guilt and
baggage from the past?"
On the reverse of the sign is Calm Wisdom "Feeling guilty and carrying
baggage from the past never helped anybody achieve anything but it certainly
hindered them and made them feel ill"
You ponder for a moment and resolve to use this wisdom when you get back
home to the hurly burly of life. Zea remains silent smiling only to confirm
that you have understood the guilt sign.
You walk on enjoying the fresh air and your newfound understanding. Before
you know it you have come to the fourth rest area.
Zea invites you to read the signpost - it says quite simply " Are
you needlessly anxious and afraid sometimes? Do you have irrational fears?
What sort of things make you feel afraid?" Think about this question
for a moment. "Are you needlessly anxious and afraid sometimes? Do
you have irrational fears? What sort of things make you feel afraid?"
On the reverse of the sign is Calm Wisdom "Unnecessary fear never
helped anybody achieve anything but it certainly hindered them and made
them feel ill"
You ponder for a moment and resolve to use this wisdom when you get back
home to the hurly burly of life. Zea remains silent smiling only to confirm
that you have understood the fear sign.
You walk on with a spring in your step and joy in your heart. Before you
know it you have come to the fifth rest area.
Zea invites you to read the signpost - it says quite simply" Are
you full of doubt and self pity? Do you sometimes feel that you are the
victim of circumstance? What sort of things make you feel life is unfair?"
Think about this question for a moment. "Are you full of doubt and
self pity? Do you sometimes feel that you are the victim of circumstance?
What sort of things make you feel life is unfair?"
On the reverse of the sign is Calm Wisdom "Self pity never helped
anybody achieve anything but it certainly hindered them and made them
feel ill"
You ponder for a moment and resolve to use this wisdom when you get back
home to the hurly burly of life. Zea remains silent smiling only to confirm
that you have understood the self-pity sign.
You walk on with a glowing feeling as you begin to understand what has
been holding you back in your life. Before you know it you have come to
the sixth rest area.
Zea invites you to read the signpost - it says quite simply. "Is
your life very stressful? What sort of things make you feel stressed?"
Think about this question for a moment. "Is your life very stressful?
What sort of things make you feel stressed?"
On the reverse of the sign is Calm Wisdom " Allowing yourself to
feel stressed never helped anybody achieve anything but it certainly hindered
them and made them feel ill"
You ponder for a moment and resolve to use this wisdom when you get back
home to the hurly burly of life. Zea remains silent smiling only to confirm
that you have understood the stress sign.
You walk on and this time you notice that the path is changing as you
emerge above the tree line. You feel strangely liberated and inhale the
air deeply.
Zea has gone on ahead of you and is challenging you to keep up the pace.
The summit of the hill is in sight. The views of the surrounding countryside
are amazing and you enjoy them as you walk.
As you scramble up the last few feet of the hill, you know that you can
leave all the gunge of the past behind. You have an inner strength that
you were unaware of before this adventure. Right at the top of the hill
is a beautiful circular resting place. And in the centre of the resting
place is a sign.
Zea invites you to read the sign - it says quite simply "Simplicity,
peace, fulfilment, freedom and calm - is this what you are looking for?"
On the reverse of the sign is the Wisdom of Enlightenment "Simplicity,
peace, fulfilment, freedom and calm are yours for the taking. All you
have to do is make choices that create these gifts in you"
You ponder this wisdom for a while and feel an inner strength. Now you
know for sure that you have the power to choose calm serene living. And
as you think about your newfound peace, you are aware that your surroundings
have changed and that you are lying in your own cosy bed at home waking
up after a deep sleep.
Gradually as you wake up, you have a big stretch and smile secretly to
yourself because you know that your adventure is part of your intuition.
And the teaching Zea has given you will always be in your mind and in
your daily living - it is your very own Calm Wisdom.
Welcome back to the hurly burly world !
