keeping
a balance book
This
mindercise is useful if you want to learn from your mis-takes
it allows you to re-run the take and see the other options.
Buy yourself a special note book which is your Balance Book or Log for
Life.
Whenever you have a bad or unpleasant experience that you want to learn
from, record it in your Balance Book.
Head up a page with a short title and brief description of the
experience, situation, circumstance or behaviour that is the subject
of your thinking.
Under the heading, divide the page into two columns. Leaving an overall
summary area across the bottom of the page.
In the first column write down all the negative aspects of the subject
in hand.
In the second column write down all the positive aspects of the subject
including the opportunities you have for learning - even if it is something
like "I'm never going to do that again!"
Now with a critical eye see if you have managed to pull off a balancing
act and neutralise the negative influences.
If the negative influences still have the upper hand, then search deep
inside yourself and ask your intuition for help - it is seldom unfair!
Finally, write an overall summary of your experience. If appropriate,
project what you have done / learnt onto potential future situations.
Re-visit your balance book entries as and when you need them.
