Feng
Shui is an ancient oriental system with its roots in Geomancy,
Taoist
philosophy and the I
Ching. Literally translated Feng Shui
means winds and waters, representing the influence
of the elemental energies.
A favourable astrological influence heaven luck, beneficial
surroundings earth luck and harmonious human actions
person luck are considered the key to good Feng Shui.
It is advisable to understand and use your personal luck. In the
West we have a saying you make your
own luck this is the kind of luck
that good Feng Shui enhances.
Central to Feng Shui is an understanding of the power of the life
force energy Chi
[also spelt Ki or Qi]. Feng Shui focuses on making best use of
helpful life force energy - Sheng Chi and getting rid of
sources of negative, stale and harmful energy Shar Chi.
Feng Shui recommends special cures to encourage
good Chi and discourage bad Chi.
The concept of Chi embraces the idea that everything exists as
a combination of the principles yin
and yang the universal complementary opposites. Yin
and Yang represent the different expressions of Chi life force
energy. Everything in your environment can be described in these
terms. Finding the right balance of Yin and Yang for yourself
will encourage Sheng Chi.
It is also helpful to tune into the daily and seasonal fluctuations
of
vibrational energy in your environment dependent on the intensity
of the suns cosmic rays reaching our bit of planet earth,
our space and ultimately our lives.
Feng Shui offers practical systems which
are said to help you achieve what you need for happiness and good
fortune. There are several different schools
of thought and methods for practising Feng Shui. You will
need to choose the ones that feel right for you. Cosmic-cherry
tends to promote the compass direction system [rather
than the door system - sometimes known as The
Black Hat Sect 3 door gate of Chi although this is
used by the author in settings with a Tibetan connection]. The
surrounding topography is also taken into account the Form
School. The persons and the buildings astrology is
yet another aspect which can be considered.
Feng Shui can be fun to learn and put into
practice. You will need to be in touch with the important
facets of your life which are encapsulated in
the eight enrichments. They
are often shown on a map known as the Ba
Gua [also spelt Bagua or Pa Kua], corresponding to the eight
compass directions.
You can also become acquainted with the
five elements [fire-earth-metal-water-wood] and how
they are represented in your home and workplace, including
their associated colours. You can work out your
personal number using a simple formula and find out which
elements and directions are most supportive for you.
Youll benefit from thinking about the atmosphere
and proportion
of your environment and generally get to know what you need in
your surroundings. Creating
harmony in your surroundings and first
impressions exercises can be useful here. And, most importantly,
you must get
rid of unnecessary clutter.
Next you may want a general idea of sort of conditions that merit
Feng Shui applications the practical aspects of buildings
and rooms which may present problems.
Then you can check out some general Feng Shui cures
(also see the magic

sense arrangements for living rooms and
bedrooms.
